Ferry Port - The town of Vis

We'll start our journey in the islands' capital - the ancient town of Vis. As soon as you step out of the boat you’ll be on the Mamma Mia set! In the movie, young Donna (Meryl Streep) misses the ferry due to a quirky employee at the border checkpoint. Luckily, she meets Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) at the dock and boards his sailing boat. All these scenes were shot in the Vis ferry port. Just a few steps away is B&B Dionis which was transformed in the movie into a colorful 'Greek market'. Scenes, where Donna is buying new clothes and Sam (Pierce Brosnan), has returned and looking for Donna are shot on the staircase in front of Dionis. Take a stroll down the charming stone streets of Vis and enjoy the island's relaxed vibe!

Prirovo peninsula

Few minutes stroll down the Vis port promenade will take you to the Prirovo peninsula, where is based Franciscan monastery and church of St. Jeronimo. In the movie young Donna and Bill are helping local fisherman Alexi get to the church St. Jeronimo where the love of his life should be married. Alexio and his bride manage to escape.

Srebrna bay

Srebrena (Silver) beach is one of the most beautiful island bays, wild and untouched (no water sports, restaurants, or cafes). The bay is exposed to the open sea and waves in the wintertime, giving the pebbles their unique color and formation. Unique beach scenery served as a perfect filming spot for a romantic walk under the moonlight of Donna and Sam. It is highly recommended to take a dip in the crystal clear sea of Srebrena bay!

Stiniva beach

The stunning landscape behind Sam’s first boat ride with Donna belongs to Stiniva bay, voted best European beach 2016. Stiniva is surrounded by high cliffs making the bay hidden for those unaware of its location. You can enter the bay swimming or by a small rowboat (the captain will provide you one).

Komiža town

Picturesque Komiža town was once primarily a fishing village, with harbor operative since the 12th century. Komiža is a typical Mediterranean seaside town, with narrow streets and houses squeezed together around the harbor. Famous restaurant ‘Jastožera’ in Komiža was transformed into the Greek taverna where Bill and Harry (Colin Firth) dinned and met an old friend, fisherman Alexio. Komiža town is recommended to stop for lunch.

Barjoška bay & Barjaci

The final stop was the one used the most while filming. Most beach scenes (Donna arriving on the island for the first time by sailboat, Sam leaving the island, and many more) were shot at the Barjoška bay. New paths and roads were built for the production of the movie. Performance of the song 'Dancing Queen' by 300 people who came on the island for the hotel grand reopening was shot north of Barjaška bay, in the Barjaci area.
